Hutto’s Growth And Reputation Are An Austin Alternative

Austin’s economic growth and popularity over recent years have created a ripple effect in Central Texas. And while the city is one of the top places to live and work, its increasingly crowded lifestyle is not for everyone. Many transplants wanting to take advantage of the region’s prosperity are looking for alternatives to the metropolitan area’s cramped living. Luckily, many relocators can still find suitable options that are within proximity to the downtown amenities and job market and offer similar opportunities through recent development in a more rural community.

Hutto’s growth has been sneaking onto the charts since 2010 with double the population, as opportunities continue to arise from Austin’s economic boom. Major highway improvements and business development efforts have lent a hand in the region’s attractiveness along with such projects as the Co-Op District. The 35-acre mixed-use destination has been coming to life over the past year, welcoming prominent tenants like Hutto City Hall, Hutto Public Library, Top Notch Burgers, and Flix Brewhouse. It will soon extend yet another welcome to Southside Market & Barbecue. The famous eatery, known as the oldest barbecue joint in Texas, has been a staple of Elgin since 1982 and has now broken ground on its latest Hutto location to be open late summer of 2020.

If that iconic move wasn’t enough, just down the street from the Southside Market & Barbecue will be yet another anchor of Hutto in the future. The Perfect Game headquarters is moving in and bringing with it a $200 million annual economic boost. The organization is a top destination for baseball players hosting tournaments, training, Hall of Fame, and attracting the eyes of Major League Baseball scouts.

The addition of these barbecue and baseball destinations to Hutto’s landscape only helps solidify the quiet southern town as a suitable alternative to the fast-paced life of Downtown Austin. And while it is on the rise in development, the city remains a close-knit community where people can feel at home. Hutto was recently named the safest city in Texas by the National Council for Home Safety and Security. With fewer than 100 crimes reported in 2018, according to the FBI Uniform Crime Report, the city offers a secure community where new residents can breathe easy and enjoy the newest businesses and restaurants.

As the Greater Austin Area’s economic boom continues to spread joy, many will find comfort in places like Hutto, where they can have the best of both worlds. With a cozy, rural feel, a safe and secure community, and development opportunities springing up, Hutto is a place you should consider calling home. Thinking of buying or selling in 2020 or know someone who is? We’d be honored to help any way we can!
