Leander’s New Park Will Have Unique And Fun Features

Leander’s Old Town Park is getting some unique features, and it’ll be fun for everyone! According to the concept plan, the new park will have the city’s history, seating areas, and serve as an event venue.

Leander City Council approved the plan on February 23rd, and the project will cost $1.2 million. The project is being paid for by parkland dedicated funds. In June, the project was originally approved for $1 million, then added the extra $200,000 to the budget after their November 19th meeting.

Not only will the park have a seating area, a history wall of the city’s past and future, and a landmark water tower with a clock, but also four water cannons, a stage with a retractable cover, dinosaur tracks, and a bocce ball court.

The designers estimate construction to begin in June and finish in December. The City Council will make final approvals in May.

Old Town Park will be .82 acres located next to City Hall on West South Street. The City Council is hoping its location will attract business and restaurants to the Old Town District.
