Like we said in our last blog, Cedar Park and Leander are growing! Here are more developments and updates for the Cedar Park and Leander area.
Cedar Park
The Bell District
The Bell District will have a new Cedar Park Public Library that will break ground in the fall of this year. The library will have indoor and outdoor spaces for community programs, a second-floor reading porch above the entry, a courtyard with seating, a children’s play area, and other gathering areas. Inside, the library will have multipurpose rooms, a youth area, maker space labs, a youth area with a dedicated storytime room, adult collections on the second floor with a teen space, a group study area, technology spaces, and a reading room.
Lakeline Park
Lakeline Park will be Cedar Park’s largest city park with 200 acres between Bell Boulevard and Little Elm Trail. Construction began in August, and the first phase will be open this summer. Phase 1 includes a multipurpose pavilion for music and performances, 3 miles of trails, a great lawn, a fishing pier, pavilions, multipurpose practice fields, a cricket field, and 64 acres of wildflower meadows. The lawn area has a seating capacity of 3,000 and other grassy areas can seat about 7,000.
Leander
Northline Mixed-Use is Developing in Leander
Northline is a new downtown district coming to Leander. Located 26 miles north of downtown Austin, the 115 acres of the new development will feature restaurants, retail and residential, offices, hotels, and public gathering spaces. The City of Leander has approved $15 million in funding for public infrastructures like streets, utilities, and parks.
Northline started construction in 2020 with horizontal construction, and almost two years later, they’re breaking vertical ground. The developer hopes to open some doors and streets in late 2022 and complete projects by the tail end of the year. There will be five construction types in 2022: townhomes, multifamily, office, civic and retail spaces. Other product types are a hotel, medical offices, and possible city buildings.
Earlier this year, the townhomes that will be for sale started construction. Novak Brothers, a Georgetown-based residential and commercial construction company, will build 69 townhomes to start selling for $700,000. They’ll be ready in early 2023. The other construction project is The Hub entertainment venue, an office building with ground-floor retail space and site-work for additional commercial buildings.
Later this year, announcements about food and beverage vendors will be made in late 2022. The Hub is the Northline’s first announced tenant and is expected to open in the second quarter of 2023.
The first phase will also include two public spaces: Town Square and Northline Circle. Town Square will be an acre in the center of the development and surrounded by the ground floor retail and mixed-use space. The first phase will have a lawn area, pavilion, seating, and restrooms. It’s expected to fit between 150 and 200 people on the lawn for events. The Northline Circle will be for the residential area.
New Home Development in Leander
Horizon Lake is the latest development in Leander. Construction began last month to start building the 480 homes in the development. Houses are built by Taylor Morrison and Pulte home builders. The community will have 78 acres of open space with a 24-acre lake reservoir, a fishing pier, a pavilion, and children’s playscapes and walking trails. The home prices start at the mid-$300,000s, and the first homes will be ready near the end of 2022. Read about Horizon Lake in our Neighborhood Spotlight here.
