To celebrate construction that will officially commence this month, the Hope Alliance leadership team, community leaders, and local officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the nonprofit’s new Hope Center in Leander, Texas.
Hope Alliance works to assist those who have been affected by family and sexual violence by providing safety and services to victims of sexual and familial violence, while also developing partnerships that lead to hope, healing, and prevention. Since 1984, the organization has served Williamson County as the only resource center and emergency shelter for those affected by family and sexual violence, and it offers counseling, emergency shelter and housing, and various legal and support services.
Currently, Hope Alliance works out of two facilities–one located in Round Rock with 30 beds and one in Hutto with 12 beds.
The new Hope Center is expected to be completed in December, 2025, and it will be located at 1161 W. San Gabriel Pkwy in Leander. The center will be about 43,500 square feet with 26 bedrooms and 96 total beds, an onsite emergency shelter, a commercial kitchen, a dining room, and office space for other, similar organizations. Additionally, law enforcement will be present at the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The typical client of the nonprofit organization is a mother with two children, and the smaller bedrooms in the new facility will include three beds, with some having adjoining doors for larger families. Notably, every bedroom in the new facility will have its own bathroom. The leadership team at Hope Alliance hopes the Hope Center will alleviate the waitlist for clients, offering them the safety and security they deserve.
Construction is expected to cost approximately $20.7 million, and Hope Alliance has raised about $10 million. They will be working to raise the other half until the facility opens in 2025.
