At The Cummings Team®, we know how meaningful connections are—whether it’s between people, pets, or neighborhoods. That’s why we’re excited to highlight an inspiring community resource: Reunion Stations, launched by the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.
What Are Reunion Stations?
Reunion Stations are outdoor kiosks equipped with microchip scanners and a handy QR code. They’re strategically placed throughout Williamson County—starting at the shelter’s Services Center in Georgetown—with plans for more locations to come.
These stations allow any finder—dog walkers, neighbors, or local business staff—to scan a found pet’s microchip on-site. Within moments, you can retrieve the pet’s chip ID using the scanner inside the kiosk.
How They Work: A Simple 5‑Step Process
Thanks to the detailed instructions from Williamson County, here’s how a trained volunteer or passerby can assist:
- Slide open the kiosk door and power on the red/black scanner.
- Slowly pass the scanner over the pet’s body, ensuring all areas are checked.
- Once the pet’s microchip is located, note the number displayed.
- Visit the AAHA’s Microchip Registry online and enter the chip number.
- Call the registered microchip company to help connect the pet with its family—or file a Petco Love Lost report if unregistered.
If the pet doesn’t have a chip, the station’s QR code guides users to alternative tools and resources.
Why This Matters for Our Communities
- Faster, easier reunions: Minutes matter when a pet is lost. These stations help avoid trips to the shelter – offering a faster, hands-on solution.
- Empowering community effort: Anyone in Leander, Round Rock, or Georgetown can jump in to help, fostering local pride and care.
- Cutting shelter strain: When pets are reunited directly through a microchip scan, it frees up shelter resources for animals still in need.
- Accessible locations: As more Reunion Stations roll out, routine stops—like errands or pet-walking—become moments of community impact.
The Magic of Microchip Scanning
As the shelter’s page puts it: “these family reunions are purely magical moments you’ll be so proud to have made happen.” That kind of emotional payoff? It’s exactly the kind of warm connection we aim to cultivate at The Cummings Team®—not just through homes, but through caring neighborhoods where every neighbor (human or animal) is valued.
How You Can Help

Final Thoughts
Reunion Stations are a shining example of how simple tools—microchip scanners, clear instructions, and volunteer energy—can transform lost pet reunions. It’s a win-win: fewer pets stay in shelters, families are whole again faster, and our communities become kinder, stronger, more connected.
At The Cummings Team®, creating neighborhoods where people and pets feel at home matters to us every day. Let’s support Reunion Stations across our region—helping pets find their way back to those who love them.
“In every neighborhood, every pet name‑tag and microchip we help re‑connect means one more family whole, one more community stronger.” — Paul & Rebekah Cummings
