Expansion Slated For Ronald Reagan Boulevard Corridor From Cedar Park To Georgetown

Williamson County has unveiled plans to expand the Ronald Reagan Boulevard corridor over the coming years, promising significant improvements to traffic flow and infrastructure in the region. This project, which is a part of the county’s Long-Range Transportation Plan, will eventually transform the existing roadway into a controlled-access, eight-lane corridor.

Segments And Construction

The project will be executed in multiple segments, each designed to alleviate congestion and improve connectivity. Segment A, stretching from FM 1431 to SH 29, is currently under the planning phase by LJA Engineering and is expected to be completed by summer 2023.

Segment B, from SH 29 to north of FM 3405, will see the construction of a new southbound roadway, with the existing road becoming a northbound-only route. This segment is set to start construction in summer 2024, with completion anticipated by late 2027, according to WILCO Official.

Enhancements And Funding

According to Williamson County, the project includes new traffic signals, turn lanes at intersections, and the construction of shoulders to improve safety and traffic flow. Future phases will continue to expand the corridor northwards, ensuring comprehensive improvements from FM 1431 to IH-35.

The expansion is funded through voter-approved road bonds, with significant financial backing secured from previous elections. The community’s support for these bonds has been crucial in advancing this and other infrastructure projects.

Once completed, the expanded Ronald Reagan Boulevard is expected to handle a substantial increase in traffic, moving thousands of vehicles daily and providing a more efficient route for commuters and local traffic. The project aims to reduce congestion and support the growing population and economic activity in our region.

The Ronald Reagan Boulevard expansion is a testament to the county’s commitment to improving infrastructure and supporting sustainable growth. For more detailed updates and project timelines, Leander and surrounding area residents can visit the Williamson County infrastructure page.
