Cedar Park – Proposed Destination For Robotics Arena

Austin has quickly become a tech-hub in the world’s job market, helping keep the region on an upward climb for best places to live and work. As a leader in technology and employment, it is no wonder that the Central Texas hub, specifically Cedar Park, has caught the attention of the rapidly growing robotics industry. Just as the Austin tech boom started with innovative exploration at such events as South By Southwest, robotics in the area could see a surge thanks to a first-of-its-kind project working its way to Cedar Park.

The revolution of robotics in the automation industry has been accelerating over the past two decades. As technology advances in the job industry, education and recreation arenas feel the impact. Robotics has become one of the fastest-growing sports in recent years, with global competitions hosted all over the planet. Despite its increasing popularity, there are very few sites for students, adults, and teams to operate out of.

Robotters Arena is a proposed destination in Cedar Park for worldwide robotic enthusiasts where 100,000 square-feet could be used to build, test, and compete in the budding tech segment. A recent report announced details surrounding the project:

  • Initial site will be approximately 20 acres
  • 35,000 square-foot, three-tiered spectator area
  • 30,000 square-foot robot and drone area
  • 10,000 square-foot tech support systems area
  • 6,000 square-foot labs and maker spaces
  • 5,000 square-feet of multipurpose and conference space
  • 9,000 square feet of support, administration, classrooms, and meeting rooms
  • Up to 1,000 square feet of parking

In summary, it’s “Top Golf meets quidditch,” according to the project architect, Gensler Austin. When the arena isn’t being used for competitions, the venue will be available for entertainment and visitors, as well as house conferences and classes.

While this robotic arena pioneering project is in the very early stages of planning, it is no less exciting for Cedar Park and Central Texas as it can put the region on the map once again as a hub for innovation.
