A new Whataburger location is under construction at 140 West Metro Drive in Leander. It’ll be next to the H-E-B Plus, talk about convenience! Mayor Troy Hill even mentioned this upcoming storefront in his annual address in 2020. Whataburger started the job search for roles in the Leander location, so it must be coming soon!
The company opened its first restaurant in Corpus Christi in 1950. They sold burgers for 24 cents. Now, there are more than 800 stores in Texas! In 2001, the 77th Texas Legislative session passed a bill claiming Whataburger is a Texas Treasure.
Their core products are the “Whataburger”, the “Whataburger Jr.”, the “Justaburger”, the “Whatacatch”, and the “Whatachick’n”. The classic “Whataburger” comes with a large bun, meat, tomato, lettuce, pickles, diced onion, and mustard. The “Whataburger Jr.” is made up of a small bun, small beef patty, tomato, lettuce, pickles, diced onion, and mustard. It’s quite literally the “Whataburger”’s younger sibling. The “Whatacatch” comes with a small bun, a fish filet, tomato, lettuce, and tartar sauce. And the “Whatachick’n” Sandwich is composed of brioche buns, a whatachick’n filet, tomato, leaf lettuce, and whatasauce.
On their Facebook page, out of 213,916 reviews, they have a 4.3 rating out of 5 stars. One review on Yelp states they have an app that’s great for pre-ordering food to pick up for curbside.
We’re excited to have a Whataburger closer to home! What’s the first thing you’re going to order when Whataburger calls Leander home?
