A new study released found that Leander made one of the most popular areas for homebuyers in the U.S. The report found the ten most popular zip codes for homebuyers by analyzing home sales in 2021 in over 40 markets, and Leander made #2.
Why Leander?
Leander’s popularity can be attributed to the population and job growth throughout the Austin area while also offering that small-town charm. Leander has recently attracted several big stores and restaurants, and their schools constantly rank high. There’s plenty of green space with how many parks there are in the area.
Leander’s 2021 annual demographic report reveals that Leander ISD could have about 9,000 more students in the school district. 9,000 is the moderate growth rate because it could be as low as 2,600 or as high as 13,000. The district plans to build six new elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school to counteract this growth.
Why Texas?
Texas itself is a hot market as suburbs in San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas-Fort Worth also made the list. Texas appeals to potential homebuyers with our temperate weather, no state income taxes, and several large companies relocating to Texas. Many of these areas are seeing a large amount of population growth.
No income state taxes are a massive benefit to those moving from California to the Austin area because it means saving money. Student Loan Hero’s study reveals taxpayers can save almost $2,000 by moving to a no-income-tax state! Savings will depend on your income bracket and where you currently live.
Specifically, both Leander and Williamson County have decreased their tax rates. Leander ISD reduced its tax rate of $1.337 per $100 valuation. This will be the third year in a row there’s a deduction. The Commissioners Court of Williamson County approved the total county budget and a new tax rate.
