There are a lot of projects coming to North Austin, and more residential and commercial space means more residents. The projects will impact Cedar Park and Leander’s growth. Here’s a snippet of the projects coming to North Austin!
Cedar Park First Senior Housing Community
The Cedar Park Planning and Zoning Commission approved one local developer’s zoning request for a proposed senior housing development. The entire area is 6.9 acres and will go from neighborhood business to planned development mixed-use zoning.
The first senior housing community in Cedar Park would be located at 400 W Park Street and be called Harden Grove of Cedar Park. It will be 81,565 square feet, ranging from three to six stories, with about 29,000 square feet for retail and personal service uses. There will be 178 units with living, sleeping, dining, full kitchen, laundry, storage, a deck or patio, and sunrooms in most of the apartments. Since seniors would be the residents, most rooms will have safety and security features like walk-in/roll-in showers, grab bars, and 36-foot doors. The new development will bring in new senior residents and more employees as some of the units will be assisted living or memory care units.
North Austin Development
The Domain is gaining popularity with developers as there are at least six multifamily or mixed-use projects. Altogether, the new developments will add 1,923 housing units to the area by 2025. Construction has begun on most projects and will continue throughout 2022, hoping to open for residents by the end of the year.
With all the popularity and developers, some are calling the area Austin’s second downtown. The Domain is growing, but so are the businesses that surround it like Apple, Amazon, Facebook, General Motors, 3M, National Instruments, Visa, Cisco, and Samsung Semiconductor.
