P. Terry’s – Authentically Fresh Fast Food

“All-natural”, “authentic”, and “fresh” are all at the top of mind when grabbing a taste from the Austin-based P. Terry’s Burger Stand. This locally loved drive-thru features staples like beef, chicken, freshly-cut fries, homemade banana bread, refreshing lemonade, and deliciously authentic milkshakes.

“We care about what’s out there to eat, and we make our food with that in mind.”

P. Terry’s Burger Stand

The famed Burger Stand first opened in the early 2000s, when the stigma around fast food was high. Most people believed fast food to be unhealthy and didn’t see fast food restaurants having a place in healthy food-focused places like Austin. The owners, Patrick (aka P. Terry) and Kathy Terry, saw this as their opportunity.

“Austin is a food city that’s always sort of demanded what’s better for you and better alternatives. I think that this was the perfect place at the perfect time for P. Terry’s

to get started.”

 – P. Terrys Burger Stand CEO Todd Cuerver

From Walk-Up Window

Patrick Terry was no newbie in the food business when he started P. Terry’s Burger Stand with his wife, Kathy. Growing up on charcoal burgers in Abilene made fresh every day, Patrick knew he wanted to recreate these delicious burgers with his own flavors and ingredients.

In 2005, this dream came true with the first location of P. Terry’s Burger Stand. The drive-thru restaurant featured a walk-up window and was located at Barton Springs Road and Lamar Boulevard.

To Spreading Across Texas

Popularity quickly grew since the first P. Terry’s laid its roots in Austin, leading to a widespread expansion across the state, with locations sprouting up in Austin, San Antonio, Georgetown, and San Marcos. While the drive-thru/walk-up window combination is one that is innately known as P. Terry’s signature, many of these locations in the greater Texas area offer dine-in, drive-up, and food truck options.

Business has been booming for this Austin favorite, with five locations opening during the pandemic, and five new restaurants scheduled to open next year. Two locations – Dripping Springs and New Braunfels – are expected early in the New Year, probably in mid-January. So keep your eyes peeled as P. Terry’s expansion only continues to grow!
